MTN Launches One TV to Expand Digital Entertainment Across Africa
MTN Group has introduced MTN One TV, a new digital entertainment platform aimed at making video content more accessible, affordable and relevant to customers across Africa.
The launch forms part of MTN's Ambition 2030 strategy, which focuses on expanding digital solutions and improving access to services across the continent.
MTN One TV brings together a wide range of entertainment options, including local productions, live television channels, international content and market-specific programming. The platform is designed to meet the diverse viewing needs of customers in different African countries.
One of the key features of MTN One TV is its flexible payment model. Depending on the market, customers may be able to access content through free-to-view options, advertising-supported services, pay-per-view arrangements or subscription packages.
MTN said the platform will also support various payment methods, including airtime, Mobile Money and other locally available payment solutions. This is expected to make digital entertainment more accessible, particularly for customers who may not have access to traditional banking services.
Beyond providing entertainment, MTN One TV is expected to create opportunities for African content creators, broadcasters, advertisers and other industry players. By leveraging MTN's extensive network and digital ecosystem, the platform aims to connect local content with wider audiences across the continent.
The company believes the initiative will help increase content discovery, expand audience reach and support the growth of Africa's creative and digital industries.
Commenting on the launch, MTN Group Chief Commercial, Strategy and Transformation Officer, Selorm Adadevoh, said entertainment is becoming an important entry point for digital participation.
He noted that MTN One TV combines the company's connectivity, fintech and digital capabilities to make relevant content more accessible while creating new opportunities for Africa's creative economy.
The rollout of MTN One TV will take place gradually across MTN's markets, allowing the company to adapt the service to local needs, existing services and partnership opportunities. Over time, MTN plans to integrate additional content offerings and video services under the MTN One TV brand.
Through the new platform, MTN is seeking to strengthen its position beyond telecommunications by combining entertainment, digital services and payment solutions into a single ecosystem. The initiative also supports the company's broader vision of driving Africa's digital transformation while expanding access to quality entertainment.
