COCOBOD Pays GH¢2.3 Billion, Completes 2026 DDEP Bond Obligations
The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has completed its mandatory bond payments under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) for 2026 after settling more than GH¢2.3 billion owed to affected bondholders.
In a statement dated September 1, 2026, COCOBOD said it had paid GH¢2,306,202,372.09, completing its required payment obligations to investors holding bonds affected by the DDEP this year.
The latest payment adds to a GH¢376,325,910.09 coupon payment made earlier in March 2026.
Together, the two payments bring the total amount paid by COCOBOD to DDEP bondholders in 2026 to GH¢2,682,582,282.18.
Non-DDEP Cocoa Bill obligations also cleared
COCOBOD has also settled outstanding obligations to Cocoa Bill holders who did not participate in the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.
According to the Board, it fully paid GH¢162 million in July 2026 to affected non-DDEP Cocoa Bill holders.
That payment effectively closed COCOBOD’s outstanding obligations to the group.
The latest settlements represent another step in COCOBOD’s effort to clear outstanding financial commitments connected to Ghana’s cocoa sector.
The Board said the payments demonstrate its commitment to responsible financial management and the systematic settlement of its obligations as part of broader efforts to strengthen the financial sustainability of the cocoa industry.
COCOBOD added that these efforts are being carried out under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance.
For investors and bondholders, the completion of the 2026 DDEP payments means COCOBOD has now fulfilled the mandatory obligations outlined for affected bondholders for the year.
